Press Release

The band FATAL SHORE was founded in Berlin in 1996 – the meeting of two unique yet complementary singer/songwriters, PHIL SHOENFELT (UK) and BRUNO ADAMS (AUS), who toured war-torn Bosnia-Herzegovina for the “People In Need” foundation.

On their way to Goražde, they came under fire from Serbian snipers and were attacked in Delnice by mujahideen armed with axes. Under the motto “What doesn't kill you makes you stronger,” they completed the band with drummer CHRIS HUGHES (AUS) and later bassist YOYO RÖHM (DE).

FATAL SHORE released a total of four albums – initially mostly cover songs, later increasingly with their own works – toured across Europe, and finally disbanded in 2009 with the untimely death of Bruno Adams.

The now released archive find shows the concentrated combined power that made FATAL SHORE so distinctive. A band consisting of such diverse characters, who embodied their own songs as well as interpretations of classics into a great whole on stage.

The recording was made at the legendary “Rätsche” in Geislingen, southern Germany, which was part of the 2001 tour for the upcoming album “Free Fall,” which FATAL SHORE recorded in Kentucky at the invitation of an American music producer.
